Is it me or does it seem like most of the top or greatest rappers come from Brooklyn?! Well Skyzoo helps that theory in every positive way. There hasn’t been one song that Skyzoo has been on that I haven’t liked, and I can only say that about a few artist!! I love his style because he is not your everyday “shoot em up, bang bang” artist from New York, he is a real Hip Hop artist!! His swagger is all over the track when he raps but he also can let you close you eyes and visualize what he is talking about! If you don’t have any of his music find “Cloud 9: 3 Day High” and “Corner Store Classic” YOU NEED THOSE IN YOUR LIFE!!!

RBj~Can you remember the 1st song that you ever recorded?
Skyzoo~Nah I definitely can’t remember that. That was a really long time ago. I probably was like 15 the first time I actually recorded a full song.
RBj~ On The 3 Day High LP wit 9th Wonder you have a song called “Stop Fooling Yourself” and in that song you have a line “Got into NC Central and I was glad/I ripped my acceptance letter in half” Do you regret that choice?
Skyzoo~No I don’t regret it because everything happens for a reason. But in no way do I encourage kids not to go to school. I made that choice due to my own circumstances. At the end of the day I still wound up going to college, and the people I met my in school are the people I’m building my career with to this day. So everything happens for a reason.
RBj~Being the star and successful MC that you are, what makes you so humble and cool?
Skyzoo~My family, my upbringing, my day one peoples, the list goes on and on. Just knowing that at any moment God can snatch all this away is enough to keep me humble. I’m just like everyone else, except I rap. I’ma humble, regular dude who likes to dress fly, holla at women, and watch the wire. I just rap first and foremost.
RBj~Who are your top 5 MCs? It can be in the game right now or all time!!
Skyzoo~In no particular order, BIG, Jay-Z, Nas, Mos Def, and Andre 3000. But there are so many emcees I love. Raekwon’s Purple Tape is easily top 5 LPs in hip hop history, so he’s high up on the list as an artist. Kool G Rap, Buckshot, Scarface, there’s a lot.
RBj~When can the fans expect another Lp from you?
Skyzoo~I’m dropping a “Best Of Skyzoo” this summer, which will be a collection of old material all compiled into one. All the favorites that people have had will be on one tape. Between the years 2004 and 2008, the best Skyzoo joints will be there. Following that will be an all new mixtape in the fall and then the debut album “The Salvation” will be out in December. That’s what I’m really excited about.
